RAJMA CHAWAL

Indian's  can go anywhere and try out the new dishes but  nothing can beat  Maa ke Haath ke bane hue Rajma Chawal! Everybody loves and admires  when it comes to ghar ke bane hue Rajma Chawal as it relives the days of our childhood.
For me, Rajma Chawal is the absolute comfort food and the ultimate combination .Rajma and Chawal are literally made for each other, they are like the World's best pair ;) Rajma can also be accompanied by hot chapatis but it surely tastes the best with steamed  rice.

Ingredients :
1)1 cup of Rajma soaked in water for 4 hours
2) 3 onions,finely chopped
3) 3 tomatoes
4)Dry spices( Turmeric, Red Chilli, Coriander Powder,Cumin Seeds)
5) Ginger Garlic Taste
6)  Salt, to taste
7) 1 tsp Garam Masala
8) Rajma Masala
9) 2 tsp oil

Recipe :
  1. Drain the soaked rajma and pressure cook with water, salt and turmeric for 4-5 whistles until soft.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pan . Once the oil is hot add  cumin seeds, cinnamon,  black cardamom in the oil. Stir for about 30 seconds. You can smell the aroma of spices as they are cooking.
  3. Add red chilli and ginger garlic paste and wait for a minute.
  4. Add onions and stir  till the onion starts to brown. This would take about 7-8 minutes.
  5. Add the tomatoes, mix  well and cook for a couple of minutes. Now add all the other spices. Stir well .
  6. By this time the steam from the pressure cooker would have escaped and you can safely open the cooker. Add the boiled rajma, along with the water it is boiled in, to the pan.
  7. Mix well and for 5-10 minutes till the gravy is of desired consistency.
  8. Embellish with onion rings and coriander  and serve with steamed rice.
